1 dead, others injured after crash involving CapMetro bus

AUSTIN (KXAN) — At least one person was confirmed dead and a few others were injured following a crash involving a CapMetro bus near southeastern Travis County on Wednesday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) said it responded alongside DPS to the collision, which was near Pearce Lane and Ross Road around 6:50 a.m. The crash was between the CapMetro bus and a pickup truck.

A preliminary investigation indicated the pickup truck was on the wrong side of the roadway when it hit the CapMetro bus head-on.

According to DPS, the person who died was inside the pickup truck, and their identity was being withheld pending next-of-kin notifications.

The CapMetro bus had 16 people on board, including the driver. Four adults and two children on the bus were taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

KXAN reached out to CapMetro and requested a statement. This article will be updated if one is provided.

TCSO advised drivers to find an alternate route due to road and lane closures.
