UPDATE: 1 person seriously hurt in Sun Metro fire
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A person was seriously injured after a vehicle exploded at the Sun Metro Transit Operations Center on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in Central El Paso, according to a spokesperson with the El Paso Fire Department.
The spokesperson says the explosion happened just after 1 p.m. at the Sun Metro Operations Center at 10151 Montana Ave.
The spokesperson says a vehicle exploded possibly inside the operations center and people are currently evacuating.
A person suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to the spokesperson.
The Fire Department says it is a “defensive fire” at this point, meaning they are not sending any personnel in.
El Paso Police are also responding to assist with the fire.
Police say Montana Avenue is closed between Wedgewood and Yarbrough in both directions.
