Berlinale Unveils 2026 Competition & Perspectives Titles – Updating Live

The Berlinale will unveil the titles selected for the main Competition and competitive Perspectives sidebar of its 76th edition in a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday, and Deadline will be following the press conference live.

Running from February 12 to 22, Tricia Tuttle is marking her second edition at the helm after her first year as festival director was widely deemed a success.

Challenges this year will continue to be navigating the increasingly choppy and polarized political situation, both in Germany and internationally. It also remains to be seen whether Tuttle has secured star-wattage and the confidence of the studios.

Also in its second year, the Perspectives competition is focused on first films and was introduced by Tuttle as one of her program innovations, with its inaugural prize going to Mexican director Ernesto Martínez Bucio’s The Devil Smokes last year.

The festival has already unveiled the bulk of its lineup including its opening film No Good Men, directed by and starring Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat. It is her third film after Wolf and Sheep (2016) and The Orphanage (2019) which both screened in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.

Highlights of the previously announced Panorama, Generations, and Classics sections include Aidan Zamiri’s The Moment, starring Charli xcx;  Hong Sangsoo’s The Day She Returns and Danielle Arbid’s Only Rebels Win.

The press conference begins at 10.45 am CET (1.45am PT). Keep checking-in for updates.
