AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city Georgetown will host a Rain Barrel Distribution event to help water customers harvest rainwater and conserve resources.
Georgetown Water customers can purchase a barrel online until orders close on at 11 p.m., March 23, according to the city.
Rain barrels allow residents to conserve water and lower their bills by collecting the rainwater that falls on roofs during the rainy spring months. The city said its current water supply would last until 2043, but that through rain barrels and other conservation efforts it could extend that supply past 2050.
Buyers will be eligible for a rebate though the city, and customers can expect to pick up their barrels at the city location, 5501 Williams Drive, on April 5 between 8 a.m. and noon.
