Hadley Robinson, Sam Brodnitz, Nat Wolff & Max Baker To Topline Family Drama ‘Funnybone’ From Ori Segev & Noah Dixon
EXCLUSIVE: Hadley Robinson (The History of Sound), Upright Citizens Brigade’s Sam Brodnitz, Nat Wolff (Play Dirty) and Max Baker (Hail, Caesar!) have wrapped on the Ohio shoot for Funnybone, an indie directed by Ori Segev and Noah Dixon (Poser) from a script by Dixon.
Funnybone is billed as a supernatural, darkly funny family drama about two estranged siblings who return home after their father’s death, only to discover an enormous prehistoric bone buried in their backyard.
Directors Segev and Dixon told us, “Funnybone begins as an intimate family story with something unsettling beneath the surface, gradually drifting into stranger territory while remaining emotionally honest at its core. It’s a film about what families try to bury, and what surfaces when you start digging.”
Valerie Steinberg (Karmalink, War Pony) is producing for Valerie Steinberg Productions, alongside Drew Johnson (Poser) for Loose Films, and Heather Francis. Exec producers include Mike & Susan MacLeod, Aidan Cantine & Sophie Cantine, Cameron & Molly Mitchell, and Chad Simpson, and WME Independent is handling sales.
In a joint statement, the producers told us, “Funnybone is the product of a creative partnership that’s been growing for years in Columbus, Ohio – rooted in trust, local support, and a shared belief in ambitious independent filmmaking. The film feels both wildly original and deeply of its place, and we can’t wait for audiences to discover it.”
Most recently, Robinson has been seen starring opposite Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor in Oliver Hermanus’ The History of Sound, which Mubi released in September following the film’s premiere at Cannes. Other recent credits for the actress include Succession creator Jesse Armstrong’s HBO pic Mountainhead, George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat, and the Sony box office hit Anyone but You. She is repped by UTA, Linden Entertainment and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Brodnitz is a comedian and improviser hailing from Northern California who currently holds a spot in the UCB Lloyd Night as a member of Upright Citizens Brigade.
Recent credits for Wolff include Shane Black’s Amazon pic Play Dirty with Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield, Tony Basgallop’s Amazon series The Consultant with Christoph Waltz, and Thomas Bradshaw’s play The Seagull at The Pershing Square Signature Center’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre in New York. He is repped by WME and Untitled.
An English actor who has appeared on and Off-Broadway, as well as in London’s Fringe and the West End, Baker’s past film credits include Hail, Caesar!, Constantine, The Island, Revolutionary Road, Newlyweds, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest; and The Time Machine. He is repped by Koopman Management.
Filmmakers Dixon and Segev are coming off their narrative feature debut with Poser, which premiered in competition at the Tribeca Festival and was released by Oscilloscope Laboratories in 2022. Up next, their documentary feature The Bulldogs will premiere at the 2026 Slamdance Film Festival. They are repped by WME and Kaplan/Perrone.
