‘Red, White & Royal Wedding’: Stars Nicholas Galitzine & Taylor Zakhar Perez Reveal Who Is Getting Hitched As ‘RWRB’ Sequel Starts Filming

Even since a sequel to Amazon MGM Studios‘ rom-com hit Red, White & Royal Blue, starring Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, was announced in May 2024, its plot has been kept under wraps.

With no designated source material the way the first movie was based on Casey McQuiston’s bestselling novel, there had been no clear blueprint for the follow-up, triggering a lot of speculation, especially after the sequel was officially greenlighted last October and its title, Red, White & Royal Wedding, was revealed with no details on the storyline.

It has stemmed largely from the bonus chapter in the Red, White & Royal Blue collector’s edition, set after the events in the book, in which British Prince Henry (Galitzine) and U.S. President’s son Alex Claremont-Diaz (Zakhar Perez) are engaged and are planning a wedding.

Well, Red, White & Royal Wedding will not be about that wedding, with Galitzine jokingly suggesting that same-sex British royal nuptials may be “a long ways off” in a behind-the-scenes video from the set of sequel, which has started production.

“Welcome back!,” Galitzine, bulked-up coming off his role as He-Man in Amazon MGM’s live-action Masters of the Universe, says alongside Zakhar Perez in the video, which you can watch below.

“Oh, I did want to say that we are here for Bea’s wedding,” Perez noted, revealing the likely subject of the royal wedding from the title of the sequel.

Bea is Henry’s supportive younger sister, Princess Beatrice, played in the original movie by Ellie Bamber.

“Yeah, we just wanted to clarify, you know? Don’t get confused.” Galitzine said.

“We’re not getting married,” Perez emphasized, pointing to him and Galitzine.

“That’s a long ways off at this point,” Galitzine added.

So far, only Galitzine and Zakhar Perez have been announced as coming back for the sequel, reprising their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz who fell in love in the first movie. Sarah Shahi’s return also has been confirmed, with no official word yet on Bamber, Uma Thurman, Rachel Hilson, and Clifton Collins Jr.

No premiere date has been set; with a 2026 premiere on Prime Video likely.

Jamie Babbit is directing Red, White & Royal Wedding from a script by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López, and McQuiston. Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are back to produce the the sequel, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López and Sullivan Street Productions’ Jennifer Salke. McQuiston and Michael Constable executive produce.
