Woman hears crying outside, can’t believe the “trespasser” she finds
Hearts have well and truly been melted by the adorable little “trespasser” a woman found hiding away on her property.
Animal lover Christina, 40, was left stunned when she spotted an unexpected guest outside her Nebraska home in September. It was in fact a tiny kitten, who although uninvited, was nonetheless adorable.
Christina told Newsweek that the kitten was approximately five weeks old when he was discovered, likely because its mom “dropped him off and left.” She had heard him crying outside for two days, but her attempts to capture him repeatedly failed. However, when she eventually found him “buried under a bird bath,” she finally managed to capture the cat safely.
The kitten, named Romeo, desperately needed some care and attention, and Christina was more than happy to step up.
“He was perfectly healthy and I knew the cat distribution system had finally found me,” Christina said. “I immediately gave him a dish soap bath to get rid of the fleas, and then after drying him I went over him with a flea comb again.”
Christina, who already has three dogs and two other cats, couldn’t resist sharing photos of her newest rescue on Reddit. Posting as user u/imabarroomhero, Christina shared several photos of the kitten, with a caption that reads: “Trespasser found in my backyard.”
The Reddit post instantly went viral, as internet users can’t get enough of the photos which depict such a helpless and sweet animal. In just a matter of days, the Reddit post has generated over 20,000 votes and more than 160 comments at the time of writing.
Romeo has certainly settled into his forever home since he was found outside. He’s bonded with the family’s dogs, although the other cats aren’t best pleased about his arrival.
The cat distribution system works in mysterious ways, but Christina couldn’t imagine a life without Romeo anymore as he’s become such an integral part of the family.

Christina told Newsweek: “He is forever our house kitty now. He’s best friends with the bulldogs and loves annoying our two older cats.
“I did not expect the Reddit post to get that big of a reaction. We want to give a big thank you to the universal cat distribution system. He is a great cat, he fit into our lives immediately, and is absolutely hilarious,” Christina continued.
The online response to Romeo’s adoption has been overwhelmingly positive, with many social media users praising Christina and her family for taking him in and offering a loving home.
Among the hundreds of comments on the Reddit post, one person wrote: “Nope, now it’s his home!”
Another Reddit user replied: “Poor baby must have been so scared and hungry for those two days. Thank goodness you found him!”
While another comment reads: “Arrested and sentenced… to a good life!”
