Zendaya’s Makeup Artist Reveals How to Recreate Her Viral ‘Sunkissed Makeup’ Look
As usual, Zendaya continues to captivate everyone through her signature method dressing. During the countdown to the official release of The Odyssey, Zendaya has captured the spotlight in a series of spectacular dresses that nod to her character, the Greek goddess Athena. And while makeup is always an essential part of a look, it rarely takes center stage in a celebrity’s red carpet style like it did during the film’s premiere in New York.
On this occasion, the internet has done justice to the work of her go-to makeup artist, Ernesto Casillas, who created a “sunkissed makeup” look that has already gone viral on Instagram, TikTok, and even Substack.
“The look is very minimal; it’s almost no-makeup makeup, but the emphasis was on the sun-kissed look. [It’s a] very blushy look across the cheek, the nose, the temples—a lot of glow, a lot of hydration,” Casillas said in an Instagram tutorial.
Casillas also spoke with Vogue Mexico and Latin America, revealing the keys to achieving a sun-kissed makeup effect this summer.

Steps to achieve a sun-kissed makeup look:
- The first step is to start with skincare and hydration to achieve a radiant glow. Use the moisturizer that works best for your skin type and allow time for it to absorb and set. (Ernesto Casillas used Prada Beauty skincare products.)
- Mix your foundation with the serum for a less matte finish and apply it to your face with a makeup sponge. Apply it only where you feel you need more coverage, but keep it very natural.
