Iran Kills Two U.S. Soldiers Defending Base in Jordan in Deadly Ballistic Missile and Drone Attack as War Intensifies
Two U.S. service members were killed after an Iranian missile and drone attack targeted their military base in Jordan, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday. The deadly strike, which was carried out on Friday using ballistic missiles and drones, also left one service member missing in action.
CENTCOM said that four other American troops were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan for treatment following the attack. All four have since been discharged after treatment. “Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified,” the agency said in a statement.

The latest fatalities bring the number of U.S. service members killed since the conflict with Iran began in February to 16. More than 430 American troops have also been wounded.
The attack comes amid a renewed wave of fighting across the Middle East after negotiations with the Trump administration collapsed and a ceasefire came to an end.
Friday marked the seventh consecutive night of U.S. strikes on Iran. In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched retaliatory attacks targeting U.S. positions in Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Syria.
The strike was one of the deadliest attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East in recent months, highlighting the growing threat from Iran as tensions continue to escalate across the region.
CENTCOM did not reveal the exact location of the attack in Jordan or provide details on how the two service members were killed, saying it was withholding further information out of respect for their families.
No Signs of Truce
Earlier this week, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in February, warned that the U.S. airstrikes would bring “unforgettable lessons” for America, accusing President Donald Trump of “seeking to escalate the conflict.”
According to the statement, Khamenei said President Donald Trump’s signature was now “worthless and invalid” after a fragile ceasefire agreement reached in April and formally finalized last month unraveled in recent days.
His comments came just hours after an Iranian negotiator announced that Tehran was suspending all commitments it had previously made to the United States under the June agreement.
Khamenei also vowed to use Iran’s regional proxy groups, which he referred to as the “Axis of Resistance,” to respond to the U.S. attacks.
