So, as we start readying for a training camp that begins alarmingly soon, what better moment to zoom out on an offseason that went unremarked upon in this space?

In that spirit, 10 thoughts on where the Islanders stand a little over a month away from Pete DeBoer’s first training camp behind the bench.

1️⃣ The optimistic case for the Islanders is that the combination of DeBoer, internal development (Matthew Schaefer, Cal Ritchie, Victor Eklund, Simon Holmstrom, Isaiah George, Emil Heinemann) and injury returnees (Kyle Palmieri, Alexander Romanov) can produce enough improvement to make the playoffs.
