Giants vs. Eagles prediction, beset bets: Big Blue make NFC East statement in Week 9
Everything is coming up Giants, and now they have a chance to take control of a lackluster division this week.
The G-Men head to Philadelphia to face the hobbled Eagles and will enter the matchup as road favorites for the first time since 2009.
The Eagles haven’t won a game since September and will start Joe Milton at quarterback after signing him off the Cowboys’ practice squad last month.
After getting walloped by the Commanders on “Sunday Night Football,” they are desperate to end their six-game losing streak.
Giants vs. Eagles prediction
The Eagles are in shambles right now. Their offense hasn’t scored more than 21 points in a single game during their skid.
Backup quarterback Tanner McKee proved to be ineffective in his three starts, and now they are turning to a different quarterback with even less experience in Milton.
The Eagles ideally would like to take advantage of a Giants defense that allows the seventh-most yards per game, but Saquon Barkley hasn’t been right all season.
He missed two starts after leaving a game against the Rams in Week 4 with a hamstring injury and sat out of practice Wednesday of this week with back and hamstring issues.
Even if he plays, it’s unclear if he can handle a heavy enough load in the running game to take some pressure off Milton.
Meanwhile, the Giants have so far weathered every issue that has tried to derail their season.
They’ve been able to patch together enough solid quarterback play between Jameis Winston and J.J. McCarthy to keep the offense rolling.
It doesn’t hurt that their three-headed rushing attack, led by Cam Skattebo, had its best game of the season. The bad news is Skattebo is dealing with a hamstring injury even after the bye week.
Betting on the NFL?
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio went out of his way to compliment Big Blue’s offense, but I’m not convinced the Giants are totally trustworthy, especially on the road.
The Giants should be favorites here, but it’s hard to get a feel for how good this offense will be with McCarthy under center, especially now that teams have more game tape on him. The Giants also haven’t made things easy for themselves on the road this season.
Instead of playing the spread, I’ll take the Giants to win outright and expect a tight game in Philly.
The Pick: Giants moneyline (-162, DraftKings)
