America’s Best Outpatient Addiction Treatment Centers 2027 Survey

Overprescription of painkillers, reliance on alcohol to deal with trauma and genetic predispositions, among other factors, can all result in substance abuse disorders, which impact far too many people in the United States.

Data reported in July 2025 by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health via the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration showed that, on average in 2024, 48.2 million people aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year.

To help guide individuals and families looking for the best possible substance abuse treatment, Newsweek is partnering with global data analytics firm Statista for the America’s Best Outpatient Addiction Treatment Centers ranking.

To compile the ranking, Newsweek is conducting a global survey of medical professionals in the addiction treatment industry to recognize the leading treatment facilities in the United States.

In August 2026, 440 residential addiction treatment facilities were recognized across 25 states, including four regional lists to cover states that were not surveyed individually.

This survey will be open through October 18, 2026
