Andrea Savage Multi-Cam Comedy ‘Perf’ In Works At Fox
EXCLUSIVE: Five years after the run of Andrea Savage‘s praised TruTV series I’m Sorry was cut short by the pandemic, the actor-comedian is back with another TV comedy she is creating, executive producing and headlining.
Savage has signed a deal with Fox to develop, write and star in Perf (working title). The project, from Fox Entertainment Studios, is described is an ensemble multi-camera comedy that reflects Savage’s aspirational, edgy real life-based voice and her ability to tap into the humor of being an adult.
Perf is part of Fox’s push into multi-camera comedy under the network’s President Michael Thorn. Fox also recently put in development a multi-cam comedy starring Earthquake based on his life. The network’s current live-action comedy slate consists of the single-camera series Animal Control and Going Dutch.
“Michael Thorn and Fox promised me that I can say anything I want other than the word f*&k, and I said, ‘Where do I sign?!’,” Savage said. “Seriously though, I am so excited to take my swing, I truly love multi-camera comedies, and I couldn’t have found more game and supportive partners.”
Savage’s I’m Sorry was two weeks into filming Season 3 with all 10 scripts written when Hollywood production was hut down by Covid in mid-March 2020. The series became one of many casualties of the pandemic as filming never resumed. But I’m Sorry has found a new life on streaming with runs on Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu and, coming up, on Roku.
As an actor, Savage has recently starred in Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ drama series Tulsa King and the Netflix movie Look Both Ways. Her other TV credits include HBO’s Veep, Showtime’s Episodes and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.
As a director, Savage is working on We Hate Brock, an R-rated feature for Sony Pictures that she penned with Joey Slamon and is set to co-star in. She is also attached to direct and play a large supporting role in the action comedy The Set Up, written by Kari Granlund. Savage is repped by Gersh, Range Media Partners, Origin and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
