Arch Manning didn’t hold back after Texas gets revenge on Ohio State
Arch Manning felt the weight of a 14-7 loss to Ohio State last season when he entered DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
Manning and No. 4 Texas didn’t play well in the first half, trailing No. 1 Ohio State 20-3 at halftime. The Buckeyes would extend their lead to 23-3 before the end of the third quarter.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day told the ABC broadcast at halftime that he knew it would be a fourth-quarter game, and his players would need to be ready for the final 15 minutes. His prediction held true, but Ohio State folded, allowing Texas to score the final three touchdowns of the game to earn a 24-23 win.

When speaking on the ABC broadcast after the game, Manning said Texas showed it could find a way to win the hard games.
“I’m so proud of our guys, they’re all competitors,” Manning said. “It wasn’t very pretty, but we found a way to win. That’s what good teams do.”
Manning finished the night going 23 of 37 passing for 196 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The interception wasn’t his fault, as receiver Cam Coleman dropped a pass and the ball bounced off his body and into the hands of Buckeyes safety Jaylen McClain. Manning added another 22 yards on the ground.
Manning was happy to get revenge on Ohio State after last year.
“I had nightmares about that game last year… We’ll have a good night in Austin,” Manning said.
Texas’ win over Ohio State was the best win so far for Manning, who beat the No. 1 team in the country. The Longhorns cemented their place in the national championship conversation with a win at home over the Buckeyes. Last year, the loss to Ohio State was a part of the reason why a three-loss Texas missed the CFP.
With the win on Saturday night, Texas will have some margin of error in their nine-game SEC schedule to make the CFP this year.
