Bills’ Bradley Chubb fined after being punched by Rams’ Alaric Jackson
The NFL added insult to injury for one player on Saturday.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb was fined for taunting, according to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero, an unfortunate exclamation point to his involvement in a postgame altercation in which he was sucker punched by Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson following their meeting on Monday Night Football.
Chubb was ultimately fined $14,329.
Jackson was suspended for two games, with the league knocking it down to one game following an appeal.
“I’ll tell you exactly what I said,” Chubb told reporters Wednesday, per ESPN. “I’ve heard I was talking about his mom. That’s not true at all. I said, ‘We’re gonna see y’all’s [expletive] again. And when we see you again, all that chipping ain’t gonna save you. That tight end and guard is not going to save you.’ He said, ‘What’d you say?’ I said, ‘That chip’s not gonna save you. The guard’s not gonna save you.’ And then boom.”
Chubb said he was proud that he didn’t respond with his own punch, saying he was signed to play and to be a good leader, and that getting into a fight wouldn’t have been a good example of either.
Jackson has not spoken since the incident, though he will certainly be asked the next time he becomes available.
