Blue Ant Studios Strikes Red Bull Studios Rep Deal — London TV Screenings

Canada’s Blue Ant Media is heading into the London TV Screenings with a rep deal in place with Red Bull Studios.

The agreement will see Blue Ant acquiring a number of series and films from Red Bull Studios, the content arm of energy drink brand Red Bull.

These include one-off sports-themed and adventure programming that Red Bull has become known for, such as in-house production Anna Gasser: The Spark Within, rock climbing feature doc The Dawn Wall and The Real Mo Farah, which Red Bull successfully shopped around the world in 2023.

Anna Gasser: The Spark Within chronicles the journey of Anna Gasser, a pioneering Austrian female snowboarder and freestyle athlete. The Dawn Wall, a 120-minute doc from Sender Films, follows climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson as they attempted climb the Dawn Wall — a seemingly impossible 3,000 foot rock face in Yosemite National Park.

The Real Mo Farah, from Atomized Studios, sees the legendary British Olympian reveal the truth about how he came to live in the UK, while Born to Fly comes from Robi Creative, BCII Production and Backflip Media, and looks into the drive behind Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis, the U.S.-born Swedish pole vaulter who has set the world record six times in under two years.

Radical Media’s The Longest Wave, directed by Joe Berlinger, follows 24-time world champion windsurfer Robby Naish as he seeks to conquer the world’s longest wave, while La Liste: Everything or Nothing deom Sherpas Cinema follows Jérémie Heitz, known as the fastest free skier in the world, and his friend, Sam Anthamatten, as they tackle intimidating mountain ranges.

Finally, Riders of the Storm, a two-hour film, is from Blackbeard and offers a rare and visceral look at a ruthless sports culture in Afghanisrtan, where champions become marked men. Khaiber Akbarzada, on the verge of being hailed as Afghanistan’s best player of buzkashi, the ancient sport where horsemen battle for control of a headless goat, finds that militants are targeting influential figures, forcing him to go into hiding to avoid the same fate as his uncle, a legendary buzkashi star who was assassinated during the civil war.

“Red Bull Studios is a leader in producing innovative, high-quality documentaries that inspire, and we’re excited to build on this partnership as we continue to grow our network of strategic acquisitions,” says Lilla Hurst, Global Head of Acquisitions and Content Strategy, Blue Ant Studios.

“Red Bull Studios is dedicated to telling and celebrating human stories of extraordinary achievement from the world of sports and beyond,” added Sebastian Burkhardt, Head of Partnerships and Commercial Strategy at Red Bull Studios. “Many of our films have resonated with audiences in many countries, and with Blue Ant, we have the ideal partner to amplify their reach — ensuring they continue to inspire and find new audiences.”
