Broncos legend comes to defense of QB Bo Nix after rough outing vs. Seahawks
Despite coming away with a victory on Thursday night over the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been the subject of a significant amount of criticism following the game. One Broncos legend believes that this criticism is entirely unjustified.
It was far from a banner day for the Broncos offense. The second half of Thursday’s game, along with the overtime period, was particularly ugly, as the Broncos recorded just 33 total net yards during this portion of the game.
In the eyes of most, the Seahawks and veteran quarterback Sam Darnold essentially handed the Broncos the win with costly turnovers, one coming in overtime which helped set up the game-winning field goal for Denver.

The issues for the Broncos offense certainly go much deeper than just Thursday’s game. Their average of 252.2 total yards per game ranks as the second-worst average in the NFL, ahead of just the 0-5 Tennessee Titans.
Despite all of the issues plaguing the Broncos thus far this season, they miraculously find themselves with a 4-2 record and squarely in the mix in the AFC West. Former Broncos star Ed McCaffrey believes that the end result is all that matters for Nix and the Broncos.
In a post on X, McCaffrey made it clear that he thinks “enough is enough” in regards to the criticism Nix is getting considering the Broncos won on Thursday night.
“Stop, just stop,” wrote McCaffrey. “Enough already. Apparently winning isn’t enough anymore. Bo Nix and the Broncos weren’t perfect but they still won the game. Winning in the NFL is hard. Enjoy it.”

While McCaffrey does have a point in saying that winning in the NFL is difficult and largely the only thing that matters, there is also a real argument that the way the Broncos are winning games currently simply isn’t sustainable.
If the Broncos are going to achieve what many believe they are capable of, success in the postseason, Nix and company on the Broncos offense will certainly need to perform at a higher level than they have thus far.
The Broncos’ next opportunity to show improvements on the offensive side of the ball will come in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals.
