Browns fans hurl obscenities at Deshaun Watson after disastrous Jaguars game

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson presumably knew if he had a poor showing against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, the fans would let him hear it.

And that’s exactly what happened.

Watson had one of the worst games of his career, completing 16 of 22 passes for 205 yards, a touchdown, and an interception while taking five sacks and fumbling once.

Cleveland mustered only 272 yards of total offense and scored just 10 points, and there was already a groundswell of fans calling for backup Shedeur Sanders to replace him. But that paled in comparison to what fans were yelling at Watson after the game.

A video started circulating on social media showing fans shouting “F— you, Deshaun. F— you.” The clip went viral, garnering nearly 700,000 views in less than six hours.

Given what Watson said about Browns fans during the preseason, calling them out for cheering when he got injured two seasons ago, it should come as no surprise that the polarizing QB didn’t get a warm reception from anyone.

“Last time I played on this field, I tore my Achilles, and that same fan base cheered when I got hurt,” Watson said. “So, what does that have to do with anything about performance? When a person gets hurt, especially in their own city, and they cheer.

“… It’s a mental battle every day. I feel like I get more love on road games than I do home games. So if it is my spot and he does make me the starter, maybe it’s 17 away games then. I don’t know.”

It’s no secret how the majority of Browns fans feel about Watson given his off-the-field issues that resulted in his 11-game suspension back in 2022.
