BTS’ Peru Arrival Sparks Security Concerns as Fans Urge Others to Stop Sharing K-Pop Group’s Location [PHOTOS]
BTS‘ arrival in Peru as part of their ARIRANG World Tour prompted a wave of online discussion after videos and posts allegedly showing activity outside the members’ possible hotel location in Lima began circulating on social media. The situation has particularly worried ARMY, with local fans urging people not to share information that could expose the K-pop group’s whereabouts.
As anticipation builds ahead of the group’s upcoming concerts, Peru ARMY have also been quick to clarify that the people reportedly gathering outside the alleged hotel are not members of the local BTS fandom.
Peru ARMY Distance Themselves From Hotel Crowd
According to statements circulating among the local fan community, Peruvian ARMY did not gather at BTS’ airport arrival or outside the hotel where the members are allegedly staying.
Dozens of enthusiastic locals were reportedly seen gathering outside the alleged hotel in Lima’s Miraflores district following BTS’ arrival. Videos from the area have since circulated on X with some accounts reportedly livestreaming or posting content that could potentially reveal the group’s location.
The situation has prompted Peruvian fans to push back against what they view as an invasion of the members’ privacy.
Rather than treating BTS’ arrival as an opportunity to track their movements, local ARMY have been asking fans around the world to report posts and accounts that reveal or speculate about the group’s whereabouts.
One message being shared by fans states, “Sharing BTS’ location puts all seven members at risk. Given the serious/grave threats Taehyung has already received, this must NOT be treated as entertainment, fan activity, or a joke.”
Fans Raise Concerns Over V’s Safety
The warnings have taken on added urgency because of previous serious threats involving BTS member V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung.
Fans have stressed that information about where the members are staying should not be treated as harmless content or ordinary fan activity. They argue that repeatedly sharing real-time location information can create unnecessary security risks, particularly when the identities and exact whereabouts of the members may not have been officially disclosed.
As videos and posts continued to circulate, some fans began calling on Peruvian authorities, HYBE, and BIGHIT MUSIC to address the situation and take appropriate measures to protect the group.
The discussion has also highlighted the broader issue of privacy surrounding major artists traveling internationally. While fans may be excited to see their idols arrive in their country, local supporters have emphasized the importance of maintaining boundaries between public appearances and the members’ private movements.
Security Presence Draws Separate Debate
The concerns reportedly extend beyond the alleged hotel location. Fans have claimed that information about BTS’ movements began circulating online after the group landed in Peru and made their way into Lima.
The police and private security were reportedly deployed following the group’s arrival, with a noticeable security presence around the area.
That security operation has itself sparked another conversation among some residents. Some have questioned why such extensive protection is being provided for BTS when comparable security resources may not always be available to ordinary residents.
The debate has created a divide in online discussions. While some users have focused on the presence and scale of the security operation, ARMY have continued to emphasize that the central issue is the protection and privacy of the seven BTS members.
For fans, the priority remains preventing the spread of real-time information that could make it easier for people to identify or approach the group outside official schedules.
BTS Prepare for Two Lima Concerts
Amid the controversy, BTS are continuing with their South American tour schedule. The group is scheduled to perform two concerts in Lima as part of the ARIRANG World Tour. The shows are set to take place at Estadio San Marcos, with the first concert scheduled for Oct. 9, followed by a second performance on Oct. 10.
The Lima concerts are expected to bring thousands of fans together to see BTS during the group’s ongoing global tour. However, with the performances approaching, supporters are once again asking fellow fans to prioritize the members’ safety.
