Net profit hits 7.8 billion yuan as revenue slips 3.1%, marking first decline in five years

[BEIJING] Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD posted a 32.6 per cent fall in third-quarter profit from a year earlier, marking a second straight quarter of decline and the biggest fall in more than four years, as it faces increasing competition from domestic rivals.

Net profit totalled 7.8 billion yuan (US$1.10 billion) while revenue dropped 3.1 per cent year on year to 195 billion yuan, the first such decline in more than five years, according to a stock filing on Thursday (Oct 30). REUTERS
