Chris Kattan returns to horror with ‘Trash Queen’ in first genre role since ‘House on Haunted Hill’
Chris Kattan is making his way back to the horror genre.
The former Saturday Night Live star has signed on for the upcoming indie feature Trash Queen, marking his first horror role since the 1999 cult favorite House on Haunted Hill.
He joins an ensemble that includes Matty Cardarople (Stranger Things, Fallout), Lynn Lowry (The Crazies, Shivers), Jonathan Stoddard (The Roaring Games), Kevin Keppy (Smile), Emily Tullock, and Bonne-Vejou Dorrell.
While details about the film are being kept tightly under wraps, Trash Queen is described as a female-led horror comedy. Kattan’s role has also yet to be revealed.
Gabrielle Rosson is directing from a screenplay she co-wrote with Tullock, with production set to rely on practical effects during an October shoot. Joan of Art LLC and Trash Queen LLC are producing.
“I’m really excited to be stepping back into the horror genre,” Kattan told Deadline. “House on Haunted Hill has remained such a special film for me, and horror fans have always been incredibly loyal. Trash Queen has a fun, twisted energy that immediately drew me in, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve been cooking up.”
Kattan became a household name during his run on Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003, where he introduced memorable characters like Mr. Peepers and Mango.
He later headlined comedies including A Night at the Roxbury, Corky Romano, and Monkeybone, while also appearing in films such as Undercover Brother, Hotel Transylvania 2, The Ridiculous 6, and In Other Words.
More than two decades after House on Haunted Hill earned its cult status, Trash Queen will see Kattan revisit the genre that helped cement his appeal with horror fans.
