‘Dancing With The Stars’ Lands First Emmy Nom In Ten Years
After an early morning reveal on NBC’s Today, Dancing with the Stars waltzed off with its first Emmy nomination in a decade.
The ABC series landed a nomination in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category and will take on CBS’ Survivor, Bravo’s Top Chef, Peacock’s The Traitors and MTV’s RuPaul’s Drag Race.
It’s a return to the awards scene for the U.S. remake of Strictly Come Dancing after the show previously landed 11 consecutive nominations between 2006 after its premiere through to 2026 and comes after the show’s bumper ratings in recent years.
The nomination is for Season 34, which launched in September and ran through December. It featured the likes of Corey Feldman, Hilaria Baldwin, Andy Richter, Danielle Fishel, Dylan Efron, Jordan Chiles, Alix Earle, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives duo Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt and winner Robert Irwin.
Hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, judges included Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
Last year, The Traitors picked up its second consecutive win in the category, beating The Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Survivor and Top Chef. The Alan Cumming-hosted mystery series will be the show to beat.
The category has largely featured the same shows over the years; The Amazing Race has had 22 nominations since the category was introduced in 2003, Top Chef has received 20 noms, RuPaul’s Drag Race has had 10 and Survivor has had nine. NBC’s The Voice landed its last nomination in 2024 but missed out last year and this year.
