Danny Boyle’s Ink Acquired By Netflix For U.S. & Latin American Distribution

Ahead of its September 2nd world premiere as the opening night film for the 83rd Venice Film Festival, Oscar winner Danny Boyle‘s new thriller Ink has been acquired by Netflix for U.S. and Latin American distribution.

Based on the Tony-nominated play by multi-Olivier award-winning playwright and screenwriter James Graham, who adapted the screenplay, Ink is billed as an explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news — one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today.

Guy Pearce plays Rupert Murdoch in the film, which also stars Jack O’Connell and Claire Foy.

Ink is a Studiocanal, Media Res and House Productions film. Boyle produced alongside Tracey Seaward, Tessa Ross and Michael Ellenberg for Media Res. Exec producers included Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, Joe Naftalin for Studiocanal, Tonia Davis, Zoë Edwards, James Graham and Sudie Smyth for Studiocanal.

As previously announced, Studiocanal will release Ink theatrically in their territories of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia and NZ. They handled worldwide sales, negotiating the Netflix deal along with WME Independent.
