David Castañeda To Star Opposite Aimee Carrero In Lionsgate Horror-Thriller From Julian Labrádor
EXCLUSIVE: David Castañeda (The Umbrella Academy, Ballerina) has been cast in a leading role in the as-yet-untitled home invasion film from Lionsgate and Talking Pictures’ horror label Midnight Pictures. He stars opposite the previously announced Aimee Carrero on the project, which recently wrapped production in Los Angeles.
The film follows Lorena Riveras (Carrero), whose mind is focused on her 12-year-old son’s safety after a recent accident. This is why their home security system is so crucial. It keeps a watchful eye on him when she can’t. But when surprise attackers appear, the cameras can only watch as masked invaders stalk mother and son in a real-time home invasion nightmare.
Castañeda plays Ben, a doctor and Lorena’s husband.
The indie horror-thriller is directed and produced by Julian Labrádor, who also co-wrote the script with Owen Egerton, with revisions by Nathan Elston. In addition to Labrádor, producers also include Tabitha Shick for Talking Pictures, and Andre Fonseca, with Jeff Robinov, Dan Clifton, and Adam Maffei executive producing. Lauren Bixby, Scott O’Brien, and Allison Lynch are overseeing on behalf of the studio.
Castañeda most recently starred in the Neon film Splitsville and Lionsgate’s Ballerina, from the world of John Wick. He is best known for playing Diego Hargreeves across all four seasons of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. Up next, he will appear in the upcoming Steve Pink comedy What the F*** Is My Password, opposite Alexander Ludwig. Castañeda is represented by Buchwald, Stark Management, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
