David Mackenzie Heist Thriller ‘Fuze’ Acquired By Roadside Attractions & Saban
EXCLUSIVE: Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have picked up North American rights to David Mackenzie‘s recent thriller from TIFF, Fuze. A wide spring 2026 release is being planned.
Set in contemporary London, Fuze unfolds after an unexploded World War II bomb is unearthed at a busy construction site, forcing a massive citywide evacuation. Amid the escalating tension and chaos, a daring criminal operation is set in motion—one that uses the evacuation as cover for a meticulously planned heist. As authorities race against time to contain the crisis, alliances blur and moral boundaries are crossed, the film deftly propels audiences through a series of calculated twists delivering a wildly entertaining ride.
Pic, written by Ben Hopkins (The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz) stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sam Worthington, and was produced by Sébastien Raybaud, Callum Grant, Mackenzie, and Gillian Berrie.
“With Fuze I really wanted to create something kinetic and cinematic – fuzing the excitement of a heist movie with the nerve-racking tension of an unexploded bomb film. The intensity and exhilaration of Fuze really comes alive on the big screen and am delighted to be partnering with Roadside Attractions and Saban who can bring this to audiences across North America.” said Mackenzie.
Roadside Attractions Co-Presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff commented “we at Roadside and Saban are longtime fans of David Mackenzie, and with Fuze he has delivered a twisty and pulse-pounding heist movie with the ultimate ticking clock; we can’t wait to bring it to theatres next year.”
“This is exactly the kind of movie audiences are craving,” said Saban Films co-presidents Shanan Becker and Jonathan Saba. “A big-screen, action-packed blockbuster from one of the top directors working today, featuring an all-star cast. Audiences and critics alike have embraced it, which is a rare and exciting achievement in today’s film landscape.”
The deal was negotiated by Roadside Attractions’ Cohen and Saban’s Saba for Saban, with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
Mackenzie’s Hell or High Water was nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture. His other feature directing credits include Outlaw King, and this year’s Relay starring Riz Ahmed and Lily James. He is one of the founders of Sigma Films.
