Dolly Parton Was Hospitalized 4 Days Before Her Death at 80
More insight into Dolly Parton’s final days are coming to light.
Days before the country icon’s family confirmed she had died Aug. 25 at age 80, she was hospitalized, multiple outlets confirmed.
On the morning of Aug. 21, the outlets reported, Parton was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Her reps later shared she died following a “brief battle” with cancer.
Her team said in a statement to People Aug. 25, “Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.”
Parton had admitted she was “going through some hard times” with her health in an interview with People published that same day, but was optimistic about her recovery.
“I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn’t years ago,” she posited. “I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin.’”
