Eagles’ Ja’Quinden Jackson leaves field in ambulance after opening kickoff in scary scene

Ja’Quinden Jackson, the running back for the Eagles who left a preseason game Saturday night in an ambulance, did have movement and strength in all of his extremities, his team announced Saturday.

His agent, Damien Butler, said a CT scan came back negative and the 24-year-old was “awake and alert.”

He accompanied the Eagles back to Philadelphia after being released from the hospital. 

“Tonight, above all else, we thank God that Ja’Quinden is doing well following an incredibly frightening moment during the game,” Butler said in a statement. “We are extremely grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles’ medical staff and the first responders whose swift actions and exceptional care supported Ja’Quinden during this critical moment.”

After making a tackle on the Patriots’ Lan Larison during the opening kickoff, Jackson lay motionless on the field after the play.

Trainers rushed onto the field to tend to him. Medical personnel joined them and an ambulance was called.

As Jackson was strapped onto a stretcher, players knelt on the sideline. Jackson was seen raising his left arm as he left the field. 

“A lot of different emotions just praying and hoping that he’s OK,” quarterback Tanner McKee said. “Word was going around that he was talking, he was responsive and moving. That kind of got everybody to settle down a little bit and we know our teammate is doing OK.”

Jackson was signed by the Eagles on Aug. 10.

The Arkansas native spent last season on the Jaguars’ practice squad.
