Ellen DeGeneres longs for TV comeback 4 years after toxic workplace scandal
Ellen DeGeneres is missing her old life as a beloved TV host.
“I’ve nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV,” the comedian, 68, said during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” Friday.
“I miss a lot about it — laughing with the writers and the audience. I think about doing stuff here. I think it is pretty easy to get on TV here,” DeGeneres, who now lives in the UK, cheekily added.
“You have a pottery show, you have a sewing show, and you even have a show about people watching TV shows,” referring to the UK TV shows “The Great Pottery Throwdown,” “The Great British Sewing Bee” and “Googlebox.”
The poignant confession comes two years after she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, 53, moved from Los Angeles to the UK.
The couple fled the US after President Donald Trump was re-elected to a second term and moved to the picturesque Cotswolds.
“Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here,” DeGeneres said in August 2025.
“It’s absolutely beautiful,” DeGeneres added. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.”
The move also followed the end of her hugely popular talk show after ten former employees accused her of creating a “toxic” on-set atmosphere of “racism, fear, and intimidation.”
When the workplace allegations first came out in 2020 — while the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” was still on the air — DeGeneres addressed the claims on camera.
“I learned that things happened here that never should’ve happened,” she said at the time. “I take that very seriously, and I want to say I’m so sorry to the people who were affected.”
The “Ellen” alum continued, “We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter.”
DeGeneres has kept a low profile in the UK, although she was recently spotted spending time with another celebrity ex-pat, Meghan Markle.
She and the “Suits” alum were photographed chatting at the Three Horseshoes near Burford, Oxfordshire, along with DeGeneres’ wife.
