Emily Maitlis Hosts Global Podcast On Jeffrey Epstein’s Links To UK
EXCLUSIVE: After laying bare Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s links to Jeffrey Epstein in a bombshell interview, Emily Maitlis is now delving deeper into the world of the deceased child sex offender.
The former BBC presenter will host A Very British Epstein for UK audio company Global. It will trace Epstein’s ties to the UK through exclusive interviews with survivors and those who knew the billionaire.
Maitlis’ Newsnight interview with Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) — which inspired Netflix movie Scoop and Amazon Prime Video series A Very Royal Scandal — resulted in fresh scrutiny of Epstein following his death in prison in August 2019.
In her podcast, Maitlis investigates the accepted timeline of Epstein’s life in Britain, asking whether this earlier chapter was more significant than previously understood. The six-part series, which premieres next year, asks whether the relationships he forged in the UK helped build his wealth and influence.
Maitlis, who also hosts The News Agents podcast for Global, said: “Much of the public understanding of Jeffrey Epstein focuses on the US and on the final years of his life. This series asks a different question: what happened in Britain, and how important was the UK to the story of how Epstein built his world, his influence and his connections?”
Vicky Etchells, director of podcasts at Global, added that Maitlis had led the investigation with “real rigor and determination,” adding that it will be “the definitive examination of Epstein’s British story.”
A Very British Epstein is produced by Global Studios and Sonoloom. It will be available to stream on YouTube, on Global Player, and all major podcast platforms.
Maitlis is also fronting a Channel 4 documentary about the Epstein files. The Epstein Files (working title) will feature first-hand testimony from survivors and “forensic analysis of the documents, networks and powerful individuals connected to Epstein’s decades-long criminal operation,” according to Channel 4.
