Exclusive | Juan Soto opens up about Mets’ failures two seasons after signing megadeal

ARLINGTON, Texas — Juan Soto didn’t see this coming. 

Rewind to two winters ago, when he signed the richest contract in North American professional sports history, and it wouldn’t have seemed plausible to the All-Star outfielder that his first two seasons with the Mets would end short of the playoffs. 

And yet, here he is. 

“It’s definitely not what I imagined in my head,” Soto told The Post before the Mets lost 3-1 to the Rangers on Thursday afternoon. “There is nothing I can do other than blame myself. I have got to be better. I have got to be at the level to take us forward.”
