Exclusive | Lefty California teacher who married Gaza man to give him US citizenship should ‘expect to be prosecuted’: Feds
The far-left, Pro-Palestinian public school teacher who said married a Gaza man to give him American citizenship should expect to be prosecuted, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services warned this week.
“These individuals should expect to be discovered and prosecuted for this illegal activity,” USCIS Spokesman Zach Kahler said after The Post exposed the woke Californian’s twisted nuptials.
CODEPINK activist and California dance teacher Laura Pinho announced in a June 16 webinar called “Challenging Zionism In Our Schools” that she married a man in Gaza in order to “equalize the playing field.”
“I have power as an American citizen. I have a passport that I was just born with, and how can I live in this world if I don’t make every effort to equalize the playing field on whatever way that I can,” she said in a webinar, first uncovered by the North American Values Institute.
A Utah County Clerk marriage record shows that Pinho, 51, married Salem S.E. Abu Amra on April 5.
Utah allows for marriages to be conducted virtually as long as both parties bring valid ID and obtain a marriage license before the ceremony.
Just one month before the couple wed, Pinho organized a GoFundMe for her future husband which claimed he was the primary caregiver of a family of five.
“His days are spent securing clean water and foraging for food for his family and helping them stay alive,” she claimed.
In December 2024, Pinho posted on Facebook a meme that said Israel was founded by “Satanic bankers.”
Abu Amra has a history of social media posts that seemingly glorify terrorism.
He posted an image of a rifle with a rose sticking out of its hand guard next to the word Palestine written in English and Arabic in November 2018.
In 2019, he posted a tribute to Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist Baha Abu al Atta who was killed in an Israeli airstrike that year. That same year, he POSTED a text mosaic of two interlocking rifles comprised of the word “Palestine” written in different languages.
Pinho denied Friday to The Post that she married Abu Amra to give him U.S. citizenship and claimed she is “wildly in love” with him. She said she didn’t mention this in the CODEPINK webinar because her ex, improv coach Derek J. Reid, was home at the time and within earshot.
Green card marriages are a federal crime that carry up to a five-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine. The USCIS, which is under the Department of Homeland Security, said they have enhanced their capabilities to investigate marriage fraud, according to the Department of Justice.
“USCIS is constantly enhancing its investigative capabilities and will aggressively pursue individuals who engage in marriage fraud in an effort to obtain immigration benefits,” Kahler said.
The Post has reached out to Abu Amra for comment.
