The Dutch Grand Prix is the 12th round of the 2026 F1 season and the first race weekend since the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 26.

The championship resumes with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli holding a 50-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, while Lando Norris enters the weekend after winning in Hungary.

For fans in other markets, F1 TV Pro is available in selected countries and provides live coverage of the weekend’s sessions, while the official F1 website and app offer live timing.

Why Friday Matters Beyond The Sprint Grid

This is not a routine Dutch GP weekend.

Zandvoort is hosting its final Formula 1 Grand Prix after 2026, making the weekend a farewell for one of the championship’s most distinctive venues and for home favorite Max Verstappen.

Verstappen has won three times at Zandvoort since F1 returned to the circuit in 2021, but McLaren has won the past two editions, with Norris taking the 2024 race and Oscar Piastri winning in 2025.

The weekend also introduces Zandvoort’s first F1 Sprint, adding an extra opportunity for championship points and increasing the importance of Friday’s session.

The Sprint itself is scheduled for 12 p.m. CEST on Saturday, August 22, at 6 a.m. ET and 6 p.m. SGT.

Title Fight Adds Pressure To Zandvoort

Antonelli arrives as the driver to beat after winning six races in the first half of the season.

Hamilton is 50 points behind, with George Russell also in the championship fight, while Norris’ Hungary victory showed that Mercedes may not have the same advantage it enjoyed earlier in the campaign.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff acknowledged the tightening competition ahead of the weekend, saying, “We have left points on the table, our rivals have reduced the performance gap.”

Drivers are not simply chasing a Saturday starting position.

The result determines the Sprint grid, with points available before Saturday afternoon’s traditional qualifying session sets the grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Next in the Game

After Friday’s Sprint Qualifying, the Sprint starts at 12 p.m. CEST Saturday (6 a.m. ET; 11 a.m. BST; 6 p.m. SGT).

Regular qualifying follows at 4 p.m. CEST Saturday (10 a.m. ET; 3 p.m. BST; 10 p.m. SGT).

The Dutch Grand Prix itself starts at 3 p.m. CEST on Sunday, August 23, at 9 a.m. ET, 2 p.m. BST and 9 p.m. SGT.

The race is scheduled for 72 laps around the 4.259-kilometer Zandvoort circuit.

With rain possible during the weekend and overtaking historically difficult at the narrow, high-speed circuit, qualifying position and tire strategy could be decisive.
