Former Titans player disappointed in state of the franchise after Texans loss
The Tennessee Titans may have hit a new low this season, managing to score only a first-quarter field goal in their latest losing effort.
They fell to the Houston Texans (1-4) on Sunday, 26-3, keeping them winless and drawing more scrutiny and criticism over their terrible performances on a weekly basis. In their fifth loss to start this season, they managed a paltry 187 yards of total offense.
The bulk of that offense came from former No. 1 pick Cam Ward’s passing. However, Ward threw for just 170 yards and no touchdowns, and was sacked four times and intercepted by the Texans’ defense. The Titans’ run game was non-existent, as the Texans limited their backs to a total of 57 yards.
Meanwhile, Tennessee’s defense gave up 329 yards to their latest opponent, with CJ Stroud completing 26 of 34 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown. Stroud also had a rushing touchdown to lead his team to a much-needed victory against a weaker divisional opponent.

After the game, former Titans tight end Bo Scaife took to social media to express his displeasure with the team’s performance, asking, “Are we at the lowest point as a franchise?”
Scaife tagged the Titans in his recent message and hashtagged his post “#TitanUp,” sending a clear message to the franchise about their season. He played in 90 games for the Titans from 2005 to 2010, compiling 2,383 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
During those seasons, Scaife only experienced two losing seasons. In two other seasons, the team went 8-8, while the others were winning seasons. The team reached the postseason twice during his playing career, with its farthest run being the AFC Divisional Round in 2008.
The last time the Titans had a winning season was 2021 and that was under Mike Vrabel, who has since departed to coach Drake Maye and the New England Patriots to success.
This year’s Titans, under first-year coach Robert Saleh, are far from a playoff contender, even though some considered they might have a chance. Despite ranking near the middle of the league in defense, they’re at the bottom in stats when it comes to total yards of offense.
Sunday’s performance further illustrated that, and as of this moment, it appears the Titans are competing with the Miami Dolphins to see who can get the first win, or who can win the first pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
They’ll try for that first win against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Oct. 18, but it’s probably become extremely difficult for Titans fans to have optimism about this season’s team.
