Fox Legal Chief Adam Ciongoli Steps Down, Nicholas Trutanich Named General Counsel

Fox said Adam Ciongoli, Chief Legal and Policy Officer, will step down when his contract ends effective December 1. Nicholas Trutanich was promoted to General Counsel and will serve as the company’s top lawyer.

Currently EVP, Principal Deputy General Counsel, he will report to Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch. “It is an exciting time of growth and innovation at Fox, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the company to advance our goals,” Trutanich said.

Fox is in the process of acquiring Roku in a transformative $22 billion deal announced last summer.

Kristopher Jones, EVP and Head of Government Relations, will report to President and Chief Operating Officer John Nallen.

Ciongoli will serve as a special advisor to Fox through June of 2028. Fox tapped the former EVP and general counsel for Campbell Soup Company in 2023, succeeding Viet Dinh. Dihn had been a key management figure as Fox News faced a trial in Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit over coverage of the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election. Fox settled the case in 2022 for $787 million just as the trial was to begin.

Trutanich joined the company as Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer in 2021. He previously served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada from 2019 to 2021 after holding senior roles at the AG’s office and working as a federal prosecutor within the U.S. Department of Justice.
