From Seoul to Broadway: Ivy Gives Fans a Glimpse of Her ‘Chicago’ Journey in New York [PHOTOS]

Singer and musical actress Ivy is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her new life in New York after making history with her Broadway debut.

On Sunday, August 30, Ivy shared a series of photos from her first week in the city on social media, offering glimpses of both her time backstage and her experience stepping into the iconic role of Roxie Hart in Chicago.

“A summary of my first week in New York. I still haven’t had much time to look around,” Ivy wrote in the caption.

Ivy Transforms Into Roxie Hart Backstage

Among the photos were backstage selfies showing Ivy in costume as Roxie Hart. The actress sported the character’s signature glamorous appearance, including a short bob hairstyle, dramatic eye makeup, red lipstick and a black sheer costume.

The photos showed Ivy posing in her dressing room, switching between sophisticated looks and playful expressions as she prepared for her performances.

For Ivy, the Broadway appearance represents the latest chapter in a role that has already played a major part in her career.

From Korean ‘Chicago’ to Broadway

Ivy began her limited engagement at New York’s Ambassador Theatre on August 17. Her appearance is particularly significant as she became the first actress from the Korean production of Chicago to reprise the same role on Broadway.

The actress originally took on Roxie Hart in South Korea in 2012 and went on to perform the role nearly 600 times across six seasons, continuing through 2024.

Her Broadway opportunity followed an audition offer from the production. Ivy went through three rounds of video auditions before landing the role, followed by approximately a year of preparation for her Broadway debut.

The transition from performing Roxie in Korea to taking the character to a New York stage marks a significant milestone in Ivy’s musical theater career.

Ivy’s Broadway Run Continues Through September 6

While Ivy admitted she has barely had time to explore New York during her first week, her focus has clearly remained on the stage.

Her limited Broadway engagement in Chicago will continue at the Ambassador Theatre through September 6, giving audiences in New York the chance to see the Korean star take on the iconic role once again.
