Georgia’s new starting TE draws Brock Bowers comparison
Georgia opened its 2026 season with one of the more commanding victories in college football, a 63-3 win over Tennessee State in Athens. Gunner Stockton was efficient, going 15 of 16 for 202 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions, while Nate Frazier exploded for 72 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just four carries, including a 48-yard scoring run.
But another Bulldog quickly generated plenty of attention on social media: junior tight end Jaden Reddell. Reddell finished with just 38 receiving yards and a touchdown on two catches, but it was enough for fans to start drawing comparisons between him and another former Georgia star: Brock Bowers.
“Georgia might have another Brock Bowers in Jaden Reddell…” the “Bussin’ With The Boys” account posted, alongside a clip of his 58-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter — which was ultimately negated by a facemask penalty — in which he bounced off multiple defenders, made a couple more miss, and added in a few stiff arms before reaching the end zone.

Reddell enters his third season with the Bulldogs, but spent his first two playing behind now-current NFL tight ends Ben Yurosek and Oscar Delp, along with senior Lawson Luckie and sophomore Elyiss Williams. Before Saturday, he had posted just three catches for 27 yards across 18 games in two seasons.
The Tennessee State game is a small sample size, and Bowers is a bold comparison. But that one play alone did give shades of the Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro tight end. It’s also easy to forget that, when Reddell committed to Georgia in 2023, he was a four-star prospect and the No. 4-ranked tight end in the 2024 class by 247Sports.

Of course, Bowers broke out in his first season at Georgia, hauling in 882 yards and 13 touchdowns on 56 catches, earning first-team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors while helping lead the Bulldogs to the first of their two straight national championships. So it’s still an incredibly aggressive comparison for a player with just one big game under his belt.
But Georgia remains in the hunt among this year’s title contenders, and there’s clearly a path for Reddell to carve out a meaningful role. More plays like Saturday’s will certainly put him on NFL teams’ radar at the end of this season.
