Giants’ Jameis Winston goes viral for tackling Cam Skattebo in bizarre blunder
Just when we thought the New York Giants‘ week couldn’t get any worse.
Jameis Winston started for the Giants on Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans since Jaxson Dart suffered a severe knee injury on Monday night that will put him out for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Early in Sunday’s game, it was the Cam Skattebo show for New York. In the Giants’ seven first half drives, Skattebo got his hands on the ball during 15 plays. However, he only rushed for 29 yards in that span. Part of the reason his yardage amount was so low was due to quite the bizarre play in the first quarter.
The Giants were on their own 5-yard line as Winston chose to hand the ball over to the team’s star running back. However, Winston didn’t pivot to get out of Skattebo’s way to give him the opportunity to actually run the ball, you know, the job he gets paid millions of dollars to do. Winston ended up essentially “tackling” Skattebo as he instantly fell to the ground for a loss of three yards for New York.
You don’t see this often.
This instance just proves even more how the Giants need a new starting quarterback. Winston’s in his second year in New York, but it’s clear he isn’t clicking well with his offense. Sure, that could be due to a lack of preparation time, but it also could be telling about Winston.
Earlier on Sunday, Fox’s Jay Glazer reported that John Harbaugh’s Giants are narrowing the list down to Kansas City Chiefs backup Justin Fields and free agent Jimmy Garoppolo for possible replacements for Dart. Hopefully the Giants can find someone new to add to the roster ahead of Week 4’s matchup versus the Arizona Cardinals.
