H-E-B recall as consumers urged not to use product

H-E-B, one of Texas’ largest grocery chains, has issued a recall of its 12-pack Destination Holiday Glow Light Stick Bracelets after a green-colored version was found to leak, posing a risk of skin irritation.

Newsweek emailed H-E-B’s press office for comment.

Why It Matters

The recall was announced shortly before Halloween, a period when such items are popular, raising concerns for consumer safety—specifically for families and children who may use these products for festivities.

It comes as thousands of Halloween decorations were recalled ahead of the candy-fueled seasonal celebration.

What To Know

On October 30, H-E-B, based in San Antonio, Texas, initiated the recall of approximately 6,600 units due to a reported hazard involving the green bracelet included in the pack. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) confirmed the recall, citing the potential for the green bracelet to leak and cause skin irritation.

The bracelets were sold exclusively at H-E-B stores in Texas from September through October 2025, retailing for about $1 per pack. The product can be identified by the UPC 9787014483, and the affected sets contain bracelets in green, red, pink, orange, yellow, and blue. The words “Destination Holiday Bracelets” are printed on the packaging.

According to H-E-B, there has been one report of a green bracelet leaking, but no injuries have been reported as of the recall announcement.

Both the company and the CPSC advise consumers to stop using the green bracelet immediately and return either the bracelet or the entire package to any H-E-B store for a full refund.

Consumers seeking additional information can contact H-E-B via its toll-free support line at 855-432-4438 (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT) or visit the company’s recall information page for updates and instructions.

What Happens Next

Consumers in possession of the recalled glow bracelet packs are advised to stop using the green bracelet immediately and return it—or the entire package—to an H-E-B store for a full refund. H-E-B will continue to offer support through its consumer hotline and website. The CPSC will also monitor any further developments related to this recall. Consumers are encouraged to check the CPSC’s official recall website for updates or further safety announcements regarding this and other products.
