Hannah Rapp: US Boxer Killed in Horror Crash after Passing Car Stops and Reverses Into Her While She Was Riding Bicycle

U.S. boxer Hannah Rapp has died after being hit by a car while riding her bicycle in Texas on Saturday. Rapp, 26, was riding her bicycle along a highway when a car passed her, suddenly stopped, and then backed into her, according to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office. She was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The car driver has been arrested. “Investigators learned that the driver of the vehicle… had passed two bicyclists traveling along FM 159. After passing the bicyclists, Mr. Medina stopped his vehicle, reversed, and struck one of the cyclists,” the Sheriff’s Office statement said.

Tragic Death

“Despite lifesaving efforts, she later passed away at the hospital. At this time, investigators believe this was an isolated incident,” the statement added. Authorities said the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The crash took place at around 10 a.m. local time on Saturday in Texas, not far from the boxing gym where Rapp trained.

Rapp had been emerging as one of boxing’s promising talents. On June 13, she challenged Tiara Brown for the WBC women’s featherweight title in Orlando but fell short. She finished her professional career with a record of eight wins, one draw, and one loss.

Her promoter, Jake Paul, paid tribute on X, writing: “Gone too soon. Condolences to her entire clan. RIP warrior, Hannah Rapp.”

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman also honored Rapp in a statement, saying: “She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family.”

Brown, who defeated Rapp in their title fight, described her as “the best dance partner I have ever faced as a pro” and recalled that Rapp had asked for her autograph before they stepped into the ring.

“It filled my heart because we were getting ready for war, yet she was still asking for my autograph,” Brown said. “We fought a great fight. It was my honor to share the ring with her.”

A Star Is Gone

Originally from Indiana, Rapp turned professional in 2024 after competing in track and field before pursuing a career in boxing. Outside the ring, Rapp worked full time as a fire and life safety inspector while continuing to train and compete as a professional boxer.

A GoFundMe campaign has also been launched to help her family with funeral expenses.

“A beloved daughter to Angie and James, sister to Tanner and Maggie, a friend to everyone she met, and an inspiring boxing athlete,” the tribute read.

“Hannah was resilient. She was brave and insightful, always pushing others to do their best. She loved her family so incredibly much, and moving from Indiana to Texas meant distance for her friends and family.

“Hannah was an inspiration. Even on her hardest days, she continued to bring love, laughter, and light into the lives of others.”
