Henry Cavill Joins Kevin Hart Spy Comedy At Netflix
Henry Cavill (Highlander) has inked a deal to star alongside Kevin Hart in an untitled spy-action comedy that McG is directing for Netflix, Deadline can confirm.
Based on a short story by Sean Lewis, McG’s film follows two rival spies who cross paths in a Lamaze class, and whose wives become fast friends. Their double lives subsequently collide in unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways, forcing the two men to reluctantly become confidantes and partners on the road to fatherhood.
Cavill will be playing one of the spies, sources said, though specific details as to his character are being kept under wraps.
The script for the project is by Adam & Aaron Nee and Jonathan Tropper. Producers include Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Emily Morris for 21 Laps; Ryan Reynolds, George Dewey, Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort; and Hart, Luke Kelly-Clyne, and Bryan Smiley for Hartbeat.
Coming off roles in films like Deadpool & Wolverine and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from Guy Ritchie, Cavill can currently be seen starring opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Ritchie’s Black Bear action thriller In the Grey. Next up, he’ll be seen starring opposite Millie Bobby Brown in Netflix’s Enola Holmes 3, out July 1. Subsequently, he’s set to headline a pair of films for Amazon MGM: a Highlander reboot from Chad Stahelski, plus Rawson Marshall Thurber’s Voltron.
The Wrap was first to the news of Cavill’s casting in the new Netflix film.
