How Did Ken Urker Die? Gypsy Rose’s Partner Found Unresponsive on His 34th Birthday

Ken Urker, the partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and father of her young daughter, has died at the age of 34 after being found unresponsive at his Louisiana home on his birthday. Urker died on Oct. 1, 2026, in Raceland, Louisiana.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies responded to a residence at around 6:15 p.m. and found him dead upon arrival. The circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated. However, Gypsy Rose has told PEOPLE that she believes Urker died from an overdose, while saying she does not know what substance he took or whether the overdose was intentional.

“He was not in a good state of mind lately,” Blanchard told the outlet.

However, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has not publicly announced an official cause of death. Authorities said the death investigation is continuing.

According to reports, Blanchard had sent Urker a birthday message but did not receive a response. A family member later found him at the residence.

On Thursday, Ken’s sister Autumn went live on TikTok confirming his death. She also mentioned that Urker’s last words to her were “I love you.”

Gypsy Rose Say Ken Urker Was a Great Dad

Blanchard described Urker as an “amazing father” and said she was devastated by his sudden death. She told PEOPLE that she was in disbelief and said Urker would remain her soulmate.

Blanchard also spoke about the intense public scrutiny surrounding their relationship. She said Urker had experienced what she described as relentless cyberbullying on social media and suggested that the pressure had affected him.

Who Was Ken Urker?

Urker became widely known because of his relationship with Blanchard, whose life and criminal case have been the subject of documentaries and reality television.

The pair first connected while Blanchard was incarcerated. Urker wrote to her after watching the 2017 HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, which examined Blanchard’s relationship with her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

Their correspondence eventually developed into a romantic relationship. Urker proposed to Blanchard in 2018 while she was still in prison, but the engagement ended the following year.

Blanchard later married Ryan Anderson while serving her sentence. After her release and subsequent split from Anderson, she and Urker reconnected in 2024.

The couple later welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, in December 2024. Urker also appeared alongside Blanchard on Lifetime’s Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.
