Johnny Knoxville Savagely Roasts Pat McAfee With Missouri-Mississippi State Pick
College GameDay’s closing picks segment has turned into one of the show’s best running bits, and it usually ends with someone on the panel taking a hit. This week, the target had a front-row seat for it.
Pat McAfee has become a familiar punching bag during these final moments, whether it is over his energy, his wardrobe, or now, apparently, his music career.
A guest picker with Tennessee roots was more than happy to pile on, right in front of him.
Awful Announcing posted the moment on X, sharing a clip of actor and stuntman Johnny Knoxville delivering his pick for Missouri over Mississippi State, and he did not hold back on McAfee in the process.
“I’m so sure about this game, that if Missouri loses, I will punish myself by listening to Pat McAfee’s new album on repeat until Halloween,” Knoxville said, via Awful Announcing on X.
McAfee has built a music side project alongside his ESPN duties, and Knoxville clearly decided that was fair game, sitting just a few feet away.
The Missouri-Mississippi State game itself is one of Week 4’s notable SEC matchups. Both teams entered the weekend undefeated, with No. 19 Missouri sitting at 3-0 and No. 24 Mississippi State also at 3-0. The Bulldogs hosted the Tigers at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville for their SEC matchup.
Missouri entered the game following a 27-17 win over Troy, while Mississippi State was coming off a thrilling 41-34 comeback victory against South Carolina. Mississippi State’s win helped the Bulldogs move into the AP Top 25 at No. 24.
The matchup also carried extra significance as both programs looked to build on unbeaten starts to the season.
For Knoxville, though, the game came with an added incentive. A Missouri loss would apparently mean several weeks of Pat McAfee’s new album.
