Juliette Binoche, Michael Caine & Sigourney Weaver Among Red Sea Film Festival Honorees

Juliette Binoche, French-Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb (Days of Glory),  Michael Caine, Hong Kong filmmaker Stanley Tong (A Legend), and Sigourney Weaver will be handed honorary awards at this year’s Red Sea Film Festival

Red Sea will run from 4-13 December.

As part of her trip to Saudi Arabia, Binoche will also feature as part of the Kering Women in Motion program. Kering will host its first panel discussion at Red Sea during this year’s festival. The panel discussion will feature Binoche alongside Saudi filmmaker Shahad Ameen and Palestinian-American actor and filmmaker Cherien Dabis. The session will be moderated by Red Sea Director of International Programs Finn Halligan.

Tong and Weaver will join the lineup of speakers for the Festival’s In Conversation With strand. Previously announced speakers include British-Egyptian actor Amir El Masry (Giant); Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania (Four Daughters), Saudi actor Yaqoub Alfarhan (Norah); and Egyptian star Lebleba (Leila Sakhina).

“Each of this year’s Red Sea Honourees represents the very best of global film – artists whose work has inspired audiences around the world and added to the fabric of cinematic culture,” Faisal Baltyuor, CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, said in a statement.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating their extraordinary contributions during our fifth edition of the festival this year and fostering conversations that will offer meaningful insight and inspiration to our filmmakers, our audiences, and the region’s rapidly evolving film community.”
