KATSEYE Takes ‘Hootie Frutti’ Into Brazilian Funk Territory With Pedro Sampaio Remix
KATSEYE are giving their hit song “Hootie Frutti” a fresh international flavor, teaming up with Brazilian DJ and producer Pedro Sampaio for a new remix rooted in the energetic sound of baile funk.
The girl group released “Hootie Frutti (feat. MC Gw & Clementaum) [PEDRO SAMPAIO Remix]” on Oct. 2 at 1 pm KST (12 pm SGT), bringing Brazilian musical influences into one of their biggest recent tracks.
The remix adds a distinctly different character to the original, with a Portuguese-language introduction, heavier bass and punchier drums. According to Sports Kyunghyang, the production leans into the rawer, more textured sound associated with Brazil’s baile funk scene, giving “Hootie Frutti” a harder and more rhythmic edge.
Pedro Sampaio Brings Brazilian Funk to KATSEYE
At the center of the new version is Pedro Sampaio, one of Brazil’s prominent DJs and producers. Known for music heavily influenced by Brazil’s local funk culture, Sampaio reshapes the KATSEYE track without losing the energy that helped make the original recognizable.
The remix also expands the collaboration beyond Sampaio. Brazilian funk artist MC Gw contributes vocals to the song, adding a low and gritty quality that contrasts with KATSEYE’s polished group performance. MC Gw has built a substantial global streaming audience, with more than 22 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
DJ and producer Clementaum is also featured on the remix, further strengthening its connection to Brazil’s contemporary funk scene.
The result is a version of “Hootie Frutti” that shifts the song into a distinctly Brazilian musical setting while introducing KATSEYE’s sound to another cultural and sonic landscape.
‘Hootie Frutti’ Already Made Global Impact
The remix arrives after the original “Hootie Frutti” established itself as one of KATSEYE’s notable chart successes. The track reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for five consecutive weeks.
The song also made an impact in the United Kingdom. It debuted at No. 16 on the Official Singles Chart Top 100 and remained on the chart for six weeks. On Spotify, “Hootie Frutti” climbed as high as No. 18 on the Weekly Top Songs Global chart.
Its popularity was also reflected in the performance of its music video. Featuring vivid primary colors and carnival-inspired imagery, the video surpassed 100 million views on YouTube just 40 days after its release. That marked the fastest 100-million-view milestone among KATSEYE’s music videos at the time.
The song is included on the group’s EP WILD, which made an impressive debut on the Billboard 200, entering at No. 1. The release also reached No. 2 on the UK Official Albums Chart.
KATSEYE Continues to Expand Its Global Sound
KATSEYE’s collaboration with Brazilian artists is another step in the group’s growing international identity. The group made its US debut in 2024 through a joint project between HYBE and Geffen Records, bringing together elements of K-pop’s training and production system with a broader global pop approach.
Since their debut, KATSEYE have increasingly positioned themselves as a group capable of moving across different musical and cultural spaces. The “Hootie Frutti” remix continues that direction by connecting their pop sound with one of Brazil’s most recognizable contemporary music movements.
With Portuguese vocals, hard-hitting percussion and the unmistakable influence of baile funk, the Pedro Sampaio remix gives fans a new way to experience a song that has already performed strongly around the world. It also highlights the growing musical exchange between international pop acts and regional artists, with KATSEYE using “Hootie Frutti” as a bridge between their global audience and Brazil’s vibrant funk culture.
