Key Longhorns lineman will miss Kentucky game

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Texas offense impressed in the second half against Oklahoma. The Sooners came into the 2025 Red River Rivalry boasting one of the best defenses in the sport but the Longhorns made them look like anything but that for the final 30 minutes of game time.

Now, Texas is looking to build off that momentum as it heads to Kentucky for another SEC showdown this weekend. The Longhorns will have to overcome the loss of center Cole Hutson, though.

In Thursday’s SEC injury report, Hutson is listed as out. The Longhorns’ offensive line has struggled at points in 2025, but seemed to be hitting its stride against Oklahoma as the running game broke out.

Hutson is a veteran on a relatively young offensive line and came into the year as one of the safer bets up front for the Longhorns. He has started both conference games so far for Texas.

Connor Stroh, another offensive lineman, is out, along with linebacker Jonathan Cunningham, defensive back Xavier Filsaime and receiver Aaron Butler.

Defensive lineman Maraad Watson is listed as questionable. Running back CJ Baxter is again listed as doubtful.

The Longhorns and Kentucky kick off at 6 p.m. in Lexington on Saturday. Texas Gameday is the official pregame show of Texas football and airs every week an hour before kickoff. This Saturday, the show will begin at 5 p.m. on KBVO.
