King Charles III Briefly Hospitalized Amid Cancer Battle – E! Online

King Charles III is recovering after an unexpected hospital stay.

The British monarch was briefly hospitalized March 27 after a routine appointment amid his cancer battle, resulting in a last-minute adjustment to his royal duties.

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement obtained by E! News. “His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

Fortunately, King Charles was able to return home shortly thereafter, though he’ll temporarily scale back his upcoming commitments per his doctors’ orders.

“His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled,” the statement continued. “His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

The royal’s cancer diagnosis was first made public in February 2024 after an unrelated medical procedure revealed an “issue of concern.”
