Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown makes NFL history at Justin Jefferson’s expense
Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown has long been regarded as one of the most dynamic receiving threats in all of football. On Sunday, he broke an NFL record that further hammered home this point.
Week 5 was an offensive explosion of sorts for the Lions, putting up 45 points in a dominant road victory over the Arizona Cardinals. St. Brown certainly joined in on the party, hauling in six receptions for 69 yards in the win.
St. Brown’s six receptions put himself into a category of his own in terms of the kind of pace he is on through the first six seasons of his NFL career.

In a post on the NFL+ social media page, it was announced that St. Brown’s performance officially gave him the NFL record for the most receptions any player has ever recorded through their first six years in the league. Notably, St. Brown surpassed division rival, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson in the process, as he previously held this record.

Surpassing a player like Jefferson, whom St. Brown is often compared to given they are just one year apart and play against one another twice a year in the NFC North, has to be the cherry on top for St. Brown in accomplishing this impressive feat.
However, it is Jefferson who is having the more team success of the two this season, as the Minnesota Vikings have looked very impressive in their 5-0 start to the 2026 NFL season.
St. Brown will look to play a big role in potentially ending the Vikings undefeated season when the two teams face off for the first time in Week 8 should the Vikings get past their next opponents, the Indianapolis Colts. But first, both teams will get a chance to recover after hard-earned wins in Week 5 with a bye in Week 6.
