Marine Corps Marathon 2026: Start Time, Route Map, Live Tracker, Road Closures and Results

The 51st Marine Corps Marathon will take place on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, bringing thousands of runners to Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., with road closures beginning as early as Saturday afternoon.

The main race starts near the Pentagon, crosses into Washington through Georgetown and the National Mall, and returns to Arlington for a finish near the Marine Corps War Memorial. Wheelchair and handcycle participants are scheduled to start at 7:05 a.m. EDT, duos at 7:07 a.m., and runners at 7:20 a.m.

The event, known as “The People’s Marathon,” will affect drivers, commuters, and visitors across several major roads and bridges. Knowing the start times, course, and closure schedule is particularly important for anyone planning to travel through Arlington or central Washington during the weekend.

Marine Corps Marathon 2026 Start Time and Route

The marathon begins on Route 110 near the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery. Runners will travel through Rosslyn, cross the Key Bridge into Georgetown, pass areas around the National Mall, and return to Virginia over the 14th Street Bridge. The course then winds through Crystal City before finishing uphill near the Marine Corps War Memorial.

The course is certified by USA Track and Field, allowing qualifying finish times to count toward Boston Marathon entry requirements.

The race is the third-largest marathon in the United States, according to the event website, and is known for not offering prize money. Saturday’s shorter races and the BellRinger Bike Ride will also bring participants onto roads in the region.

Arlington Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions

Arlington County Police have announced extensive closures for Sunday. Several major roads, including parts of Route 110, Washington Boulevard, Richmond Highway, and streets around Rosslyn and Crystal City, will be affected.

Many listed Arlington roads will be closed from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, including southbound Route 110 between Interstate 66 and Washington Boulevard. Other restrictions will begin at 6 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. or 5 p.m., depending on the road.

One important restriction begins before race day: southbound Route 110 from Washington Boulevard to Route 1 is scheduled to close at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and remain closed until 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.

Drivers should check the detailed Arlington County Police closure list before traveling, as access may vary by road segment and time.

Washington, D.C., Road Closures and Parking Restrictions

In Washington, D.C., emergency no-parking restrictions are scheduled for several streets from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Affected areas include parts of Constitution Avenue, Independence Avenue, M Street, Wisconsin Avenue, and streets around the National Mall.

Vehicle closures are scheduled from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on several roads, including Madison Drive, Jefferson Drive, parts of Independence Avenue, the HOV lanes of the 14th Street Bridge, Key Bridge and Memorial Bridge. Rock Creek Parkway will also be closed between Calvert Street and Ohio Drive during the specified period.

The closures will affect routes connecting Georgetown, the National Mall and Arlington. Drivers should allow extra travel time and avoid crossing the marathon course where possible.

BellRinger Bike Ride Adds Saturday Closures

The BellRinger Bike Ride will create additional restrictions on Saturday, Oct. 24. According to D.C. police, the affected roads are scheduled to close from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

These include M Street between the Key Bridge and Whitehurst Freeway, Canal Road toward Chain Bridge, Foxhall Road, Reservoir Road and Clara Barton Parkway between Chain Bridge and the D.C.-Maryland line. Chain Bridge itself is also included in the listed closures.

People traveling through these areas should plan around the morning restrictions rather than assuming the marathon-related disruption begins on Sunday.

Live Runner Tracking and Race Results

Spectators can use the official Marine Corps Marathon website and its linked live-tracking service to follow participants. The event’s online resources also provide the course map and race information.

Results and split times are expected to be available through the race’s official results platform after participants compete. Anyone looking for a particular runner should use the official tracking service or marathon app for the most relevant updates.

With closures affecting both sides of the Potomac River and continuing across much of Sunday, checking the official race and police advisories before setting out will help drivers and spectators avoid delays.
