Marvin Harrison Jr Could Reunite With CJ Stroud in Cardinals Trade
Marvin Harrison Jr. appears to be done in Arizona, and his next stop may come with a familiar face throwing him the ball.
The Arizona Cardinals are close to completing a deal for the wide receiver, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who reported Oct. 10 that the Houston Texans have held talks and are seen as a serious suitor. A move to Houston would put him back with C.J. Stroud, his quarterback in college.
Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur publicly backed the receiver after the New York Giants beat Arizona 36-24.
“Yeah, my confidence is high in Marv,” LaFleur said.
By Oct. 10, the team had told Harrison he would sit out the Week 5 matchup with the Detroit Lions while the deal is wrapped up. He also missed the team’s meetings that night, ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reported.
Arizona’s asking price was a second-round pick and more, per a source. Before the weekend, the Cardinals were pitching him to clubs as first-round value, though rival teams valued him closer to a Day 2 pick.
Don’t expect a family reunion, though. The Indianapolis Colts, where his Hall of Fame father Marvin Harrison Sr. holds multiple receiving records, aren’t involved, according to ESPN’s Stephen Holder.
Harrison caught one pass over his first two games. His lone score came against the Giants, and he followed it with a “shush” gesture from the turf. Asked what he meant, Harrison said: “No message.”
He had no agent until Sept. 23, when he hired Todd France and Tory Dandy, according to NFLPA records. Sources said the move was made with a possible trade in mind.
Drafted No. 4 overall in 2024, Harrison has 1,578 yards and 13 touchdowns in 33 games but no 1,000-yard season. Arizona already paid his $22.5 million signing bonus.
Whoever lands him owes $4 million this season and $5.62 million next year, with a fifth-year option call due in the offseason.
