At just 10 years old, Max Alexander is quickly becoming the internet’s favorite designer. Alexander’s account, @couture.to.the.max, run by his parents, documents the craftsmanship behind his handmade, avant-garde garments, which are often made from reclaimed or recycled materials. The Los Angeles native, who has been sewing since the age of 4, offers his followers (7.3 million on Instagram and 3.9 million on TikTok) a look at his creative process, which begins not with a sketch, but with draping his materials of choice—coffee bean bags, vintage wedding dresses, and a French military parachute, to name a few—directly onto a mannequin.
